A consultation gives
you an opportunity to meet with an NYC Business Acceleration member representing the Department
of Buildings. The team member will evaluate your establishment's facilities for
compliance with applicable laws and regulations and you will have the
opportunity to ask questions. Inspections are conducted to ensure compliance
with the laws and regulations. The inspector will help you identify ways to correct
any problems discovered. Violations typically are not issued at a consultation,
but may be issued during an inspection. If conducting an inspection, the team member will issue
objections which must be corrected before final certificates are issued or the
job signed off.
Commercial eating and
drinking establishments and commercial retail properties qualify for NYC Business Acceleration construction consultations and inspections. Inspections for other commercial and
residential properties should be scheduled with the Department of Buildings
using contact information available here.
WHO MAY SUBMIT A REQUEST?
The owner, owner’s
representative or filing representative may request either a consultation or an inspection.
